The firefighters intervened this Sunday, November 10 in the early evening, for a fire in the premises of an EPDSAE (Departmental establishment to support, accompany, educate) in Lille (North), rue d’Esquermes.

Fire at the Esquermes home: a minor arrested

When the police were dispatched to the scene on Sunday evening around 7 p.m., the firefighters were already containing the fire which had broken out in one of the rooms of the L’Escale youth home, rue d’Esquermes in Lille.

According to an employee, the start of the fire was located on a mattress. He tried to put it out himself using a fire extinguisher, without success. The spread of the flames caused the destruction of eight rooms, a laundry room, a meeting room and a sanitary room. No casualties have been reported.

A 16-year-old minor was identified as the alleged perpetrator of the fire and was arrested.

Rehousing and call for donations

This Tuesday, November 12, the EPDSAE indicated on its Facebook page that three teenagers and two employees present “were evacuated safely“. Several residents were rehoused in other services and in a house made available by the Sauvegarde du , we still learn.
