Author of book about Trump discusses his ‘severe memory problems’

Ramin Setoodeh, deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine Varietyinterviewed Donald Trump several times after his presidency for a book called Apprentice in Wonderland on the reality TV show on which the former president was the star for many seasons. In an interview with MSNBC Monday morning, the day before his book launch, the author said he noticed that Trump suffered from “severe memory problems.”

“As the journalist who spent the most time with him, I have to say he didn’t remember anything. He didn’t even remember me,” he said, referring in particular to a meeting just a few months following an hour-long interview at Trump Tower in May 2021.

“He didn’t remember the long interview we had, and he didn’t give many interviews at the time,” Setoodeh said. “So I think the American public really needs to see this portrait of Donald Trump. »

The Trump campaign spokesperson rejected this portrait of the candidate. “President Trump knew who this individual was throughout the entire interview process, but this “writer” is a nobodyan insignificant person, so of course he never made an impression,” Steven Cheung told the magazine Forbes.

Setoodeh also draws the conclusion from his interviews with Trump that he is driven by a desire for revenge and obsessed with famous people.
