Denmark, 1755. Captain Ludvig Kahlen sets out to conquer a Danish moor known to be uncultivable with the impossible objective of establishing a colony in the name of the king, in exchange for a royal title. A limited ambition that the ruthless lord of the region will tirelessly seek to stifle. Kahlen’s destiny then hangs in the balance: his business will bring him wealth and honor, or cost him his life…

This pitch is that of the impressive King’s Land, a feature film released in theaters last year (but unreleased here) which is being broadcast this Tuesday evening by Canal+. A captivating historical drama led by the always charismatic Mads Mikkelsen, winner of the Best Actor prize at the 36th European Film Awards (the film was also praised, and deservedly so, for its photography and costumes) .

King’s Landwhich marks the reunion of Mads Mikkelsen (who dared to play a porn actor on screen) with director Nikolaj Arcel more than a decade after Royal Affair, is a romantic western as violent as it is moving. In this adaptation of Ida Jessen’s novel, the Danish actor, who radiates the screen, brilliantly embodies a complex character. There is a good chance that it will not leave you indifferent…

In Competition at the Venice Film Festival

Fans of Mads Mikkelsen (who could play the big bad in a future Marvel film), book your evening quickly! Presented in Official Competition at the last Venice Film Festival, King’s Land is a feature film which should not disappoint you as the Nordic actor delivers a striking performance.
