A 28-year-old man died on the night of Sunday to Monday November 11, 2024, burned alive in a car parked north of Pau, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. A murder investigation has been opened.
A car engulfed in flames with a man inside. Around 3 a.m., during the night from Sunday to Monday, November 11, 2024, local residents alerted the firefighters. The events took place in the Ousse-des-Bois district, located north of Pau, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, rue des Bougainvilliers, reports in particular Southwest.
Clothes on fire
A witness would have seen the young man arrive at the wheel of the car. A few minutes after parking, he came out with his clothes on fire.
When firefighters arrived, local residents had removed the victim from the vehicle. The man was screaming in pain. Witnesses doused him with water to try to put out the flames. The young man died shortly after. Aged 27, he did not live in Pau.
Open investigation
A murder investigation was opened and entrusted to the Pau judicial police branch in order to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy. “No avenue has been ruled out at this stage and numerous technical investigations remain to be carried out”specifies Rodolphe Jarry, public prosecutor, cited by The Parisian. The hypothesis of an accident or suicide has not been ruled out, underlines France Bleu.
An autopsy of the body will be carried out. The car must also be appraised.
