Thirty minutes before the big winner of the first season of What talent!many viewers rushed to the Noovo site.
Unfortunately, several of them saw an error message appear when voting for their favorite candidate. “Your vote has not been recorded, please try again in a few seconds,” it read online.
Faced with this technical problem and so that “everyone has a chance” to be heard, the team of What Talent! quickly made the decision to extend its voting period.
“You blew up the voting platform,” announced Marie-Josée Gauvin, around 9 p.m.
The host, who shone throughout the season, masterfully led this 90-minute live special show. And this, despite the unexpected.
“We the judges, we declare you the queen of live,” said Rachid Badouri, alongside his three colleagues who were visibly surprised by the turn of events.
“In order to guarantee fairness to all finalists, the production and the firm Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton have decided to extend the voting until Tuesday 10:00 p.m. The results will be announced next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on Noovo during the daily show,” declared Bell Media, in writing.
Fans of What talent! will therefore have to be patient for a few more days before celebrating. Too bad, because the final result looked tough between the seven talented finalists who managed to leave their mark among more than 250 artists. A momentum which may have had time to weaken in 72 hours.
C4pitals
For the first time this season, the show’s four judges had no say. Rachid Badouri, Anne Dorval, Marie-Mai and Serge Denoncourt, however, did not hide their satisfaction with the identity of the competitors who would perform in front of them.
“We did a good job! I am proud of our finalists,” declared Serge Denoncourt, supported by his colleagues.
It was the C4pitals dance troupe which opened the ball. Although surrounded by statues and climbed on white pedestals, the numerous dancers were far from being stony.
“You have just given us the most accomplished performance of your career,” said Marie-Mai.
Like the popular singer, Serge Denoncourt praised the “risk-taking” of the group which moved to music without a precise rhythm.
Harmonix
Even though they had to change songs the same day of their performance, “for musical rights reasons,” the members of Harmonix took the stage as bright as usual.
Led by Kevin Bazinet, the group overall delivered magnificent harmonies, despite a few small hiccups here and there.
“We judges have never sent Kevin Bazinet to the final. We sent Harmonix. The five people who are there have a lot of talent, together. They’re a great group and, what’s more, we learned today that they are warriors. Hats off,” declared Serge Denoncourt, to the applause of the crowd.
Lil Afro Krew
Lil Afro Krew took advantage of Rachid Badouri’s golden button to fly to the semi-final, then the final… but we would have liked to see the dance troupe on the stage of What talent!.
Between temple columns, around a golden throne, the troupe literally lifted the spectators present, in Montreal, at the National Monument. An energy that pierced the screen.
“You are warriors! You are queens,” Anne Dorval whispered after their performance.
Lil Zack
As in almost all of his numbers, Lil Zack delivered a performance bathed in duality. The 14-year-old dancer offered a number about the loneliness he went through, but which also became his strength.
With squeaky and almost disturbing music, the artist took us on a journey between dance and theater.
“I had a golden buzzerbut you are my favorite of the season,” said Rachid Badouri, touched.
Nathan Loignon
Nathan Lavoine’s introductory capsules were humanly touching, from the beginning to the end of his journey. However, it was truly his talent that continued to dazzle the judges and the public on Monday.
The very gifted pianist created a magnificent piece under a fine rain of white flakes, in front of the projection of a forest in the middle of winter.
“It’s one of my most emotional pieces and it’s for my mother,” said the 18-year-old, who we saw come out of his shell throughout the season.
Rick Duff
Charismatic as can be, Rick Duff has transformed the room of the National Monument into a real show country with song Wanted Dead Or Alive by Bon Jovi.
The singer, drafted by Marie-Mai at the dawn of the semi-finals, lifted each spectator with his boundless energy, brilliantly inhabiting the stage with his musicians.
Stardust
In front of the flashes of the paparazzi and the power of the neon lights, the young dancers of Stardust arrived on stage as real “superstars”, dressed in white jackets dotted with golden stars.
If they won over the crowd each time they appeared, the young dancers saw their journey culminate on Monday evening with a choreography filled with confidence. Leaving behind them a contagious joy.
The winner of What talent! — season 1 will be revealed Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. To vote, you can go to the show’s website until November 12, 10 p.m.
