France started its Euro 2024 with an easy victory against Austria, 0-1. Three points taken in this very tough group D, therefore three precious points. But this evening was marked by the rather impressive injury of Kylian Mbappé. In a duel in the rectangle, the new Real Madrid player collided head-on with Danso’s shoulder. With a bloody nose and completely crooked, Mbappé was forced to leave the pitch. A source close to the player announced to AFP that the player has a broken nose, as suggested by the many impressive images that have reached us.
In the wake of his injury and while Didier Deschamps wanted to replace his attacker, the Austrians tried to take advantage of his absence to benefit from numerical superiority. The French coach fumed on the sidelines while the referee did not allow him to make the change. Suddenly Kylian Mbappé came back up to sit on the pitch to force the referee to interrupt the match. He obviously received a yellow card for his cheating but this should not penalize him given that he risks missing at least one match following his injury and that the yellow cards will be removed at the end of the group stage. Even when stunned, Kylian is smart.
