The native of Paris made his debut in the professional world with his training club Girondins de Bordeaux. 70 appearances with the scapular jersey which attracted the desire of major European clubs. Since his departure in 2019 from the French club, Koundé has become one of the best defenders in the world. The Ile-de-France native has become an accomplished defender, capable of playing in the central axis of the rearguard, but also on the right side of the defense. A new position that he managed to master at FC Barcelona, notably under the orders of the Catalan coach, Xavi.

Selected for the first time in the France A team, in June 2021, just before the Euro. Only 22 years old at the time, the former Bordeaux player played a match as a starter against Portugal during this European Championship. Since this first appearance in continental competition, Jules Kounde has become an accomplished starter. But like his FC Barcelona counterparts, Didier Deschamps almost systematically aligns the Catalan player as right defender. Relegating Inter Milan player, Benjamin Pavard has a substitute place. Kounde is an essential element of the French manager’s game plan to notably compensate for the rises of Théo Hernandez.
With his 28 selections on the clock, Koundé will be the starter on the right flank of the defense during Euro 2024 for the selection at Le Coq unless there is a huge poor performance or tactical reshuffle.
