New day of the Premier League which has closed its doors, therefore inevitable update of Opta’s predictions! Are Liverpool, current leader of the English Championship, now favorites to win the title? The AI gives us its answer…
It was an exciting (new) weekend across the Channel. In the Premier League, we may have witnessed a turning point in the season since Liverpool, winner against Aston Villa (2-0), took a five-point lead over Manchester City, beaten at the same time at Brighton (2 -1). A fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s team which, hit by numerous injuries, is in full doubt.
Below the two big names, it’s very tight. If Chelsea currently occupy 3rd place in the Premier League after their point taken against Arsenal on Sunday (1-1), the Blues are only a small point ahead of Aston Villa, 9th. This shows the small gap that separates the teams at the top of the table at the start of the English Championship season.
Despite their victory against Leicester (3-0) for Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s last before the arrival of Ruben Amorin, Manchester United remains stuck in 13th place with 15 points in 11 days.
Finally, at the bottom, Wolverhampton signed its first success of the season against Southampton (2-0), a direct competitor in the descent. Mario Lemina’s partners scrape one place and are in 19th position, two points behind Ipswich, first non-relegation.
