This Monday, June 17, around 2:30 p.m., a rafting accident occurred in the Guil, in Château-Ville-Vieille, at the exit of the village in the direction of Aiguilles, Dauphiné Libéré learned.

The alert was raised by another raft crew who was nearby. The members of this boat, from the CRFCK (Regional Canoe-Kayak Training Center) of L’Argentière-la-Bessée, came to the aid of the two victims. They took them out of the water.

The latter two are of Czech origin. They were part of a group of friends of ten members, separated in two boats. The two turned around. Eight members managed to reach the bank.

The two victims were treated by firefighters, who performed cardiac massage. One of them, a man, died on the spot. The second, a woman, was transported to the Briançon hospital center in an absolute emergency, by the helicopter of the gendarmerie aerial section, with two rescuers from the CRS Alpes and a doctor from the Smur on board. She died a few hours later, around 5:30 p.m., in hospital.

According to the first elements, the exit was not supervised. An investigation is opened, led by the gendarmerie, to find out the causes of death. An autopsy will be carried out. Criminal identification technicians from the gendarmerie went to the site this Monday.
