A 58-year-old man was killed this Sunday evening, around 6 p.m., in Marcq-en-Barœul. The victim was walking a friend's dog along the Roubaix canal, on the Chemin de Halage, when he was attacked by a homeless man. The latter attacked him with a knife. A female jogger tried to revive the stabbed man by giving him cardiac massage before help arrived, but he could not be saved.
The murder weapon purchased in a nearby store
According to a police source, two men were arrested by the police in the evening. They are 53 and 50 years old. One of them is considered the alleged perpetrator. No direct witnesses to the attack have been identified.
Still according to this source, this murder seems linked to an altercation that occurred in a business, a few minutes before the attack. Following the altercation with the victim, the alleged perpetrator then went to buy a knife in a store near the scene of the tragedy before taking action. The mayor of Marcq-en-Barœul, Bernard Gérard, went to the home of the victim's family to announce the tragedy.
