Warning sirens sounded this Monday morning about twenty kilometers southwest of Jerusalem after the Israeli Air Force intercepted a projectile coming from Yemen.

Extinguishing operations in progress

Of the fires took place Monday in the Bet Shemesh region, about 20 km from Jerusalem. They follow the interception by the Israeli Air Force of a missile fired from Yemen. The alert sounded in this area, and although the missile did not penetrate Israeli territory, the interception generated debris responsible for the fires, according to Israeli authorities. Israeli firefighters are working to control the fire and are conducting reconnaissance to detect possible other outbreaks, reports The Parisian.

Solidarity of the Houthis with the Palestinians

At the same time, pro-Iranian armed groups, notably the “Islamic resistance in Iraq”claimed four drone attacks in the north and south ofIsrael. The Israeli army claimed to have intercepted these devices during the night from Sunday to Monday, thus increasing tensions in a context of regional conflict involving several groups linked to“axis of resistance” supported by Iran. The Houthi rebels of Yemen, allies of Iran and actors of this movement, have also intensified their actions against Israel and its maritime interests in the region, in solidarity with the Palestinians since the start of hostilities initiated by Hamas on October 7, 2023 .
