The streaming platform is offering more and more live shows, and a new one will be launched soon.
Netflix has been around for several years, and its catalog continues to evolve. From movies and series to now including sports, the streaming service presents a wide range of content aimed at satisfying a wide audience. Naturally, Netflix isn’t free, and many people find it inaccessible.
With its hit Formula 1 series, “Drive to Survive,” Netflix ventured into the sports field a few years ago. Since then, programs have been regularly published, including an annual series on the Tour de France and more recently the Six Nations rugby tournament, as well as basketball and the NBA.
The platform is now taking a big leap by offering live shows, such as tennis and wrestling events… A new show is planned to join the French catalog in the coming weeks, featuring wrestling and wrestling. WWE’s popular program, “Monday Night Raw.”
Raw is officially set to debut on January 6, 2025, as confirmed by current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. WWE and Netflix have reached a monumental deal worth five billion dollars over the next ten years for the rights to broadcast WWE Raw in the United States. Other WWE shows (SmackDown, NXT and Premium Live Events) will also be available.
For now, the date of January 6, 2025 will not be applicable for the French broadcast on Netflix, as WWE has announced that this will begin after the expiration of current contracts with broadcasters in countries such as AB1 and ABXplore in France and Belgium.
In conclusion, WWE shows will be coming to Netflix in France, Belgium, Switzerland and beyond, but fans will need to be patient as this will happen after their TV contract ends. Additionally, WWE executives have stated that if WWE launches a new show, there is no guarantee it will land on Netflix. The platform will have the opportunity to first review the project and can decide whether to pay additional fees to acquire it or leave it to other broadcasters.
