AlloCiné: Other actors played Chance before you in “The Young and the Restless”. Did you feel any pressure about that?
Conner Floyd: No because I was determined to make this character mine. I didn’t have the pressure to follow what the guy before had done. My character comes back and he has completely changed, he experienced something that transformed him, so the production told me: “Have fun with it, show us what you want to do with it.“
Chance is back from the dead… How will his return to Genoa City take place?
Expect to discover it completely different. He will encounter difficulties adapting to civilian life again. Moreover, he is a father now and in some ways, a newly married husband too. Returning to this daily life after what he has experienced will require adjustments. He has challenges to overcome…
Will he and Abby encounter problems in their marriage?
Abby is Chance’s number one supporter. Coming into this marriage, she knew what kind of person he was and his priorities. So she’s going to be there for him and try to support him as much as she can. Abby has some things to deal with on her own, but a marriage works when we take steps toward each other. So they will try to meet in the middle.
Back from the front, Chance will suffer from post-traumatic stress. How did you prepare this plot of “The Young and the Restless”?
I did a lot of research through reading. Also, I have a friend in the army that I was able to discuss this with. I listened to his stories and his experiences with people who suffer from this phenomenon… I tried to gather as much knowledge as possible about it because it is something very serious. People are really suffering from this and I wanted to pay tribute to them.
Chance finds Abby but also Dominic, their baby whom he has never met before. Will becoming a father be easy for him?
He’s never had a child before, so it’s going to be difficult for him. He has a close relationship with his father so he will try to do the same by giving his best… He doesn’t really know how to behave and at the same time faces his own worries. Chance will move forward with what he already knows, supported by Abby, while listening to the advice of those close to him. He will try to get there… (laughs)
What is your relationship with Melissa Ordway?
She is one of my best friends behind the scenes of The Young and the Restless! She was there my first day, as soon as I walked into the studio to do a reading and test our chemistry. She wanted to be there for me and was very open and welcoming. I see her less at the moment and it sucks… But as soon as we get together, we have a lot of fun! I really like her, I’m delighted to have met her.
How do you get along with Tricia Cast who plays Ninayour fictional mother?
She really looks like she’s my mother! Every time I see her, I call her”Mom” (laughs) It’s funny! I love talking with her, she always has great stories and interesting points of view. Plus, she’s a phenomenal actress! Every time she’s here, we have a great time.
Do you hope to stay in “The Young and the Restless” for a long time?
As long as Chance is around and the producers want me around too, count me in. If they call me, I’ll come!
