Euro 2024 starts this Monday evening for the Red Devils, several municipalities are installing giant screens for the occasion. This is the case for seven Brussels municipalities.

The largest in the country will be located on Place Dumon in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. The vast esplanade will open its doors to supporters one hour before the start of the match, everyone will have to leave one hour after the end of the match. Only Red Devils matches will be broadcast. Food trucks and mobile bars will allow spectators to quench their thirst and mop up in the process. Free admission.

In Uccle, the football festival will take place in the Wolvendael park at Uccle. Belgium’s three group stage matches will also be broadcast. “The qualification of Belgium will determine whether or not broadcasts of the matches will continue,” specifies the municipality. Alongside the match, Wolvendael Park will offer food trucks, entertainment, bars, event partner stands and a DJ set. Free entry. “And the park remains accessible to walkers on match days,” specifies the municipality.

Place Wiener (today called Place Andrée Payfa-Fossépréz), in Watermael-Boitsfort, will also vibrate to the rhythm of the Red Devils from Monday, until the final if the Devils perform. Other meetings will also be broadcast on the 21 m2 screen, the municipality does not specify which ones for the moment. Here too, food stands, lively bars and even a space with a screen dedicated to children are planned. The maximum capacity of the space dedicated to football will be 3000 people. Entrance is free (open from 5 p.m. to midnight) but you are advised to reserve your place, via the advance purchase of drink tickets for a minimum amount of 6 euros per person on the website wienerfootvillage.be. On the days when matches are broadcast, the Stib will divert its bus 95 towards the Grand-Place and its bus 17 via avenue de la Fauconnerie, as during the Sunday market.

The ability of Pinoy Square to Auderghem, which also hosts a giant screen, will be smaller but will not prevent supporters from enjoying the best in terms of atmosphere in Brussels. Upon entering the venue, supporters will receive a wristband, essential to manage capacity. “We will welcome a maximum of 2,500 supporters, as required by Siamu,” explains the mayor of Auderghem Sophie De Vos (Défi). In terms of safety, dangerous objects or anything that can be thrown will be prohibited (flag handles for example), helmets, strollers and backpacks will also be prohibited. The town will provide a gazebo for supporters so that they can deposit these prohibited items and then collect them afterwards. Drinks stands (max 12 degrees) and food stands (including fries) will be set up. While the glasses will be returnable or recyclable. Auderghem will only broadcast Red Devils matches.

Romanians and Turks on Place Saint-Josse

In the center of Brussels, the municipality of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode will host a giant screen on Place Saint-Josse. “We start Monday with the Devils’ match against Slovakia and then continue with all the Devils’ matches,” comments Mayor Emir Kir. The municipality will also broadcast the matches of Romania and Turkey. “We received a request from the Romanian community. Private, the event called Game On! will host the Red Devils matches and key matches of the final phase. Entrance is free but premium packages exist. Access to the covered stand costs five euros. A VIP package at 49 euros offers a privileged seat right in front of the giant screen and the open bar (beers, soft drinks and snacks). The Crossing stadium will also offer numerous sporting events such as Teqball and 3-on-3 football matches. Game On! will not stop at the Euro. The event will also broadcast the Olympics, the Tour de France and a BMX competition.

Finally, the municipality ofEvere will broadcast a single match (Belgium-Romania) on Saturday June 22 as part of the music festival.
