Father’s Day: a celebration for all, a godsend for some…

This Sunday, June 16, we celebrate dads… An opportunity for families to get together around a good meal and celebrate. While some chose to stay at home, others chose to go out for some fresh air. A boon for canoe owners and restaurateurs.

In Paea, the Taura family chose a seaside restaurant to celebrate Father’s Day. “Today is special, the children said: Grandpa, we invite you today“, confides Eddy Taura, father of five children and grandfather of four grandchildren.

In the kitchens, we have been busy since three in the morning. The stoves are firing on all cylinders for this rather special service: nearly 200 customers for this day of celebration. “We offer buffets: traditional and modern“, explains Vanaura Faua, cook. The restaurant is full, which is enough to delight the manager of the establishment.”For me, Father’s Day is a holiday like any other day but it has less impact than Mother’s Day“, notes director Olaf Taura.

In Vaitupa, Jymmy opted for the canoe. This father actually has another event to celebrate. “We had a little party on the canoe and what’s more it’s my birthday, it was an opportunity to bring together friends and family“, confides this father of three children. Among the forty guests, his daughters, proud of him. “He is a pillar, he is an example, he shows us the right path“, they confide.

On the service providers’ side, this is an opportunity to make a commercial gesture. “I offer him sunset, that is to say an extra hour“, explains Teave Orbeck, manager of one of the canoes.
