On Wednesday June 12, the History and Heritage association hosted a group of young people aged 17 to 25.

They had come from the local Mission of Langres, for the third year in a row, delighted with the good progress of previous years.

The Mission aims to support young people who have left the educational path and to introduce them to professions and employment sectors and to give them the best possible prospects for their future. The young people are under a committed contract system which lasts one year. They are mobilized for around fifteen hours per month, and benefit from discovery days where, together, they develop their spirit of cohesion and organization.

This approach allows them to better understand the rich local heritage and to think more in-depth about manual professions.

For the Langres Local Mission, it was the second time that members came to Vignory.

The History and Heritage association, in partnership with Rempart Grand-Est to which it is affiliated, had prepared a great day for the day’s group supervised by Martine Clément, coordinator of the youth engagement contract. She was accompanied by Isabelle Koch.

Ophélie and Virginie came from the local Chaumont Mission.

Arriving at 9 a.m., the participants were welcomed by Bruno Bigard. A small coffee and tea had been prepared for them.

A snack was offered to them at 10 a.m. before the visit to the dungeon.

At the end of the morning, stone cutting and carpentry workshops were organized until 12:30 p.m. They then had a joint meal at the association’s house, before resuming the workshops at the start of the afternoon. , until their departure at 4:30 p.m.

The carpentry workshop focused on wood sculpture under the advice of François Derobe, former cabinetmaker and sculptor, originally from Vaucouleurs.

For stone cutting, it was Florent Perier, from Meurthe-et-Moselle, who shared his job as a stone cutter with the young people who came for this initiation day.
