Having left Standard last summer to join Dessel, Lucas Kalala has certainly not forgotten his training club. His situation obviously saddens him, but the right-back is convinced that Number 16 will return.

This week-end, Walfoot.be had the opportunity to speak with Lucas Kalala. Trained at Standard de Liège, the right-back has just had a full season with Dessel and is now aiming to return to the professional world (read the first part of the interview).

The 22-year-old also spoke about the current situation of his training club, more critical than ever. “I hope it gets better. When I was at the club, there was nothing to indicate that the situation was going to become like this. From what I learned, there was nothing alarming. Everything was stable .”

Lucas Kalala feels sad about the current situation at Standard

“Of course, it saddens me a lot. But I’m not worried. Standard is a great club, an emblem of Belgian football. The club will bounce back and get back on track.”

For many, the context of Standard brings a double feeling. Firstly, it seems so difficult that, given the current situation, a buyer will be found at the start of the season and that Number 16 will gradually return to the forefront. But on the other hand. “It’s impossible for the story of Standard to end like this” concluded Lucas Kalala.
