Every year, the sparkling waters of Lake Geneva become the scene of an exceptional nautical competition: the Bol d’Or Mirabaud. This regatta, which attracts sailors from all over the world, is a true event that combines tradition, passion and cutting-edge technology. An event to experience live on Radio Lac, in particular thanks to 5 guests who are part of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud, starting with Yann Petremand, president of the organizing committee.

Created in 1939, the Bol d’Or Mirabaud is a regatta open to all types of sailboats, from monohulls to multihulls. The route, approximately 123 kilometers long, extends from Geneva to Pointe du Bouveret and back. A true technology laboratory since its creation, the Bol d’Or Mirabaud is the most important closed-course regatta in the world. A historic weight which rests, among others, on the shoulders of Vincent Boiron of the Société Nautique de Genève.

The Bol d’Or Mirabaud is renowned for its varied and sometimes unpredictable sailing conditions. Crews must be prepared to constantly adapt their sails and course to make the most of changing weather conditions. The regatta attracts an impressive diversity of participants, from passionate amateurs to seasoned professionals. The boat categories are varied, including monohulls, multihulls, and even Decision 35 class sailboats and TF35 class catamarans. This diversity allows everyone to find their place in the competition and to participate according to their skills and ambitions. More than 500 boats and 3,500 crew members are taking part in this great lake celebration, including Marie Barbey-Chpuis, Administrative Advisor in charge of the Safety and Sports Department.

For the 2024 edition, which will be held on June 14, 15 and 16, the Bol d’Or Mirabaud has decided to get even closer to its audience by creating a party space outside the Société Nautique de Genève. The entertainment village will be moved to the city’s quays, to the Port-Noir esplanade, offering an immersive experience to spectators on Friday mornings, 10 a.m. A great program is planned, detailed by Olivier Peulvast, director of Egg Sport.

Each year, this iconic event continues to captivate and inspire, reminding all participants and spectators of the unique challenge of sailing. Whether you are an experienced sailor or a lover of great adventures, the Bol d’Or Mirabaud is an experience not to be missed, which the bank of the same name will not fail to do.
