DIRECT. Euro 2024: first match in France’s group, England enters the fray… follow the third day

Next step for the Dutch selection in this Euro: the match against the Blues, Friday June 21 at 9 p.m.

After conceding the opener, the Dutch equalized in the first half before winning at the end of the match thanks to a goal from Wout Weghorst (83rd).

The coach of the Blues and the captain, Kylian Mbappé, will however be present at the Merkur Spiel-Arena to speak to the press… before heading to the Paul-Janes-Stadion for the scheduled training at 6:30 p.m.

The Blues’ opponent for their first match, Monday evening (9 p.m.), left their base camp in Berlin to join Düsseldorf, where the match will be played.

Poland surprised the Netherlands by opening the score after sixteen minutes thanks to Adam Buska. Cody Gakpo’s equalizer came shortly before the half-hour mark. The two teams were 1-1 at the break.

On the sidelines of the Poland – Netherlands match, a man threatened police officers with a pickaxe and an incendiary device. German security forces shot him to neutralize him. The assailant, who was reportedly injured in the leg, then received medical treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Gareth Southgate’s men are also among the big favorites for the final victory of this Euro, with the France team, according to Opta’s predictions.

Unhappy finalists in 2021, the English are widely favored to finish in first position in their group. Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia are expected to fight for second place.

England will begin their tournament this Sunday evening and will try to do as well as Germany, Spain and Italy who won their first match. Among the favorites, France and Portugal will enter the competition tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

After Munich, Cologne, Berlin and Dortmund on Friday and Saturday, three other German cities are hosting a Euro match this Sunday: Hamburg, Stuttgart and Gelsenkirchen, where the England team will play this evening.

Group E (Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine) will begin its tournament tomorrow. We will have to wait until Tuesday to see the teams from Group F (Portugal, Georgia, Czech Republic, Turkey) play.

In addition to Poland – Netherlands, the first match in Group D which includes the France team, two other matches are scheduled for today in Group C: Slovenia-Denmark and England-Serbia.

Less than three hours before the kick-off of the Poland – Netherlands match, the Volksparkstadion of Hamburg is ready to welcome players and supporters.

Winners of the Euro in 1988, semi-finalists in 1992, 2000 and 2004, the Dutch experienced a crossing of the desert at the end of the 2010s. Not qualified in 2016, they lost in the eighth three years ago .

The Polish selection, qualified at the last minute for this Euro, will have to do without its star Robert Lewandowski this Sunday. The FC Barcelona player injured his thigh during the last preparation match and will miss the match against the Netherlands. It remains uncertain for the following ones.

The atmosphere should be great in this confrontation between two countries bordering Germany. In any case, many Dutch people have made the trip.
