A unique experience in the department took place within three establishments including the René-Caillié college in Mauzé-sur-le-Mignon, Wednesday May 22. It was about prevention and awareness aimed at classes of 6e with a real situation involving the overturning of a bus on its side.

The operation was entrusted to the Agora enterprise training center, in partnership with Niort agglo and the company Transdev, responsible for school transport, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of seat belts.

Francis Jacob d’Agora and Thierry Lesénéchal for Niort agglo, piloted the experiment carried out with middle school students, certain teachers and Martine Blanchard, elected official. All well tied up, they experienced a bus overturning and could then be vertical and, depending on their position, almost two meters from the ground.

Learn to detach yourself and not panic

The exercise made it possible to learn how to detach yourself, not to panic, to move around, to exit through the hatches in the roof of the vehicle and above all to measure the risks incurred in the event of negligence.

In addition to schoolchildren, similar training can be provided to bus drivers or firefighters who intervene. It was reminded that an accident can occur at any time and the obligation remains to wear your seat belt, even for a short distance.
