The month of June will end with two days of rain, in the middle of the moving weekend.
While all of Quebec is expected to receive rain, it will not be on the same scale in all regions. Thus, the regions further north of the province, where there are currently forest fires, should receive up to 50 mm on Saturday and Sunday.
“It’s further south in the province that it’s going to be more variable,” said Simon Legault, a meteorologist with Environment Canada. He explained that in this part of Quebec, we should expect rainfall amounts of up to 25 to 30 mm with a risk of thunderstorms for Sunday.
Records in June?
With the rainy month of June that we had, it is possible to wonder if we have broken records for the amount of rainfall in certain areas. While Environment Canada cannot comment on the matter, it is likely that the precipitation expected on Saturday and Sunday will allow us to break some.
“There are places where we had a lot of rain, especially in the western, southwestern parts […] “The precipitation at the end of the week should increase the values. So, it is possible that there are some areas that break records, but at the moment I cannot determine it,” Mr. Legault specified.
