Gill Swerts definitely risks never being able to count on Mika Godts. The Ajax Amsterdam winger was injured during the trip to FC Twente this Sunday.
Mika Godts (19 years old) is one of the greatest talents in our football, to the point where many even imagined seeing him selected not with the U21s, but with the Red Devils last Friday. But Tedesco takes his time, and Godts was therefore left at the disposal of Gill Swerts.
It must be said that the Belgian Espoirs are playing a crucial match against the Czech Republic this Friday: the qualifying play-off for the Euro U21, which will take place next June. For this reason, Tedesco also left, among others, Killian Sardella in U21.
But Godts might not play with Swerts’ Hopes either. The winger, author of 6 goals and 5 assists in 20 games with Ajax this season, came off at half-time, injured, during the trip to FC Twente this Sunday.
Godts suffered a hamstring injury, according to Dutch media. Unless there is a surprise, he will not be there at the Espoirs gathering this week in Tubize. For the occasion, he would have… made his debut in U21, having already withdrawn from the previous rally.
Christaan Ravych, the Cercle de Bruges defender who is also an international, was also injured during the match against RSC Anderlecht. Two injuries, therefore, as a very important match approaches. It remains to be seen who will replace them in Gill Swerts’ core.
