Slimane is of Algerian origin through both his parents. His mother was a stay-at-home mother and his father had several jobs, notably in the restaurant industry. Suffering from diabetes, his mother lost her sight. Slimane dedicates his song Dans le noir to him.

At school he suffered academic harassment linked to his weight. But from his childhood he grew up in an environment where we listened to a lot of music which allowed him to escape. He discovered a passion for singing when he joined a gospel choir at age 12. At the age of 15 he auditioned for the musical Cleopatra: although he was not accepted, he nevertheless reached the final. This experience allowed him to realize his talent, but also his desire to make a career in singing. He grew up listening to a lot of rap with artists like Kery James, IAM… He also did break dancing and hip-hop with a group that allowed him to become French champion.

After taking a one-year break from his schooling, he decided to take the baccalaureate. Once he graduated, he joined a music school until he was 21. At the same time, he held odd jobs: handling, catering, salesman, nanny… After having completed his training, he worked on open stages and piano bars while devoting himself to castings.

He thus participates in several TV shows such as Popstar (2007), New star (2009) or X-Factor (2011).
