Almost twenty years after offering one of the best films anchored in the universe of James Bond To fans of the English spy, this New Zealand director is back to impress you. We of course want to talk about Martin Campbellthe man behind the first film which will feature Daniel Craig in the shoes of 007, namely: Casino Royale. Based on the novel of the same name by Ian Fleming, Casino Royale broke audience records worldwide upon its release in 2006, becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise until Quantum of Solace took his place in 2008.
In addition to serving as a reboot for the license by giving it a makeover with Daniel Craig in the titular role, Casino Royale also introduces Vesper Lynda double agent with whom Bond falls in love. Performed by Eva GreenVesper is the spy’s first great love, and their relationship (and especially its end) deeply marked Bond. Despite a short appearance in the license, this complex character is also very popular with fans, undoubtedly thanks to the acting talents of Eva Green, who has proven herself numerous times over the years, with At the crossroads of worlds: The Golden Compass, Sin Cityor even Penny Dreadful. Moreover, it is with her that Martin Campbell chose to work again in his next action film.

This new feature film by Martin Campbell is Dirty Angels. An action thriller set in the heart of Afghanistan in the summer of 2021, where, as American troops withdraw from the country, a team of female soldiers is tasked with rescuing a group of schoolgirls taken hostage by the Taliban. To succeed in their mission, the military must gain the trust of terrorists by making them believe that they are part of a humanitarian organization. But the task will not be so simple, and the characters’ past risks complicating things further.
A film that risks making waves given the current political climate in Afghanistanand in particular the prohibitions that Afghan women have had to face for some time, but who seem to have it in their stomach in terms of action. In the casting, we find of course Eva Greenbut also Ruby Rose (Batwoman), Maria Bakalova (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Rona-Lee Shimon (Black Lotus), Jonica T. Gibbs (Civil War), Emily Bruni (Slow Horses), et Christopher Backus (Big Little Lies). The film will soon be released in the United States, i.e. December 13, 2024and the same day in SVOD, even if we do not yet know which platform(s) it will be.
