In total, 118 ex-ADF hostages, released last week by the FARDC and the Ugandan army in Komanda, benefited on Thursday, November 7, from humanitarian assistance at the Diango site, about ten kilometers from Bunia.
These former ADF hostages received food including rice, beans, flour, vegetable oil as well as soap and clothes. This donation was made to them by the Yira cultural association, which brings together members of the Nande community.
Those who are sick benefit from free care and psychological support for their trauma recovery after spending two years in the ADF stronghold.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for this assistance.
They were released a week ago by the joint FARDC-Ugandan army force during operations towards Mount Oyo, in the south of Irumu territory.
The army welcomes this gesture of generosity in order to support the efforts of the military administration to care for these people. Its spokesperson in Ituri, Lieutenant Jules Ngongo, indicates that steps to identify their respective families are underway in anticipation of their social reintegration.
These people encourage the army to continue these operations for the restoration of state authority in their original environments.
