Which party would you vote for if new federal elections were held? This is the question asked in our “Grand Baromètre RTL Info/Ipsos/Le Soir/VTM et HLN”.
In this episode of “La Loupe”, our political referent, Martin Buxant, and the head of the Powers division at the newspaper Le Soir, Bernard Demonty, analyze the results of the “Grand Baromètre RTL info/Ipsos/Le Soir/VTM and HLN”.
When we ask the question: “Which party would you vote for if new federal elections were held?“for Belgians, we see that, six months after the elections, the cards are redistributed a little in our survey.
For example, if we take the case of the Socialist Party, it occupies first place in Brussels with 23%. In Wallonia, it also takes on colors, as Bernard Demonty explains:
“In Brussels, it is still a nice comeback for the Socialists, who started the elections with 18% in the Chamber. They rose to 21% during our previous survey, and now we are slowly rising to 23%. So, it’s really a PS that takes on colors. In Wallonia, we go from 22% to 24%, so it is also an increase. We thought a little that the Socialist Party was in the dust, and there we can still see that, in both regions, things are much better“.
But how can we explain this renewed popularity for the PS? In Brussels, this can be linked to several factors, as the head of the Powers division explains:
“In Brussels, we can still sketch that the agreements with the PTB have perhaps convinced the former voters of the Socialists that the Left Front is being born, that it was positive, and that they are perhaps returning to the Socialist Party. A PS which does not seem to be considered responsible for the crisis in the formation of the Brussels government“.
As far as Wallonia is concerned, the explanation is simpler. “In Wallonia, it is perhaps a little clearer, because the Walloon government is in the process of attacking the status of civil servants, to put them on permanent contracts. And that can provoke, even among voters who voted for Les Engagés or the MR, a reflex to say to themselves: ‘Ouch, we’re going to start affecting my status, I’m going to take refuge with the Socialist Party'”he adds.
In this video “La Loupe”, it is also about:
In Brussels, the MR lost its first place to the PS. In Wallonia, it is holding up.
Are there any personalities that influence these results?
The MR is in poor shape in Brussels. For what ?
The PTB achieves a historic score in Brussels.
What about the Greens, six months after the elections?
