This Friday, OM welcomed Auxerre to the Orange Vélodrome stadium. The Phocéens started with the following composition: Rulli – Murillo, Balerdi (c), Brassier, Merlin – Rabiot, Hojbjerg – Greenwood, Luis Henrique, Rowe – Maupay. But the meeting quickly turned into a nightmare.
AJA quickly opened the scoring through Sinayoko, after a serious error from Brassier. The former Brest player missed the ball and the Auxerre player adjusted Rulli with the right (0-1, 10th). OM tried to react, without managing to create any truly dangerous opportunities. AJA made the break through Perrin, after a cross from Sinayoko (0-2, 43rd). And the Burgundians added a third goal before the break through Traoré, whose shot passed between the legs of Rulli (0-3, 45th). The public roared, the Phocéens returned to the locker room with this score.
Roberto De Zerbi made three changes at the break: Merlin, Rowe and Maupay came off in favor of Garcia, Koné and Wahi (46th). The Marseillais did not manage to shake up the Auxerre team, until the referee whistled a penalty following a handball from Akpa. Greenwood transformed it (1-3, 63rd). Kondogbia replaced Brassier (66th). Murillo gave way to Lirola (77th). Nothing has changed anymore.
The Phocaeans therefore bowed heavily in front of a stunned Vélodrome audience. One wonders if some players are not afraid of playing in front of their own supporters. This is the third defeat in eleven days, and that's already a long time…
