Launched two years ago, the Xiaomi 12 Pro is not very young and has been dethroned by many references since. But given its technical sheet and its current price, it is still clearly worth the detour. Currently, you can find it for 399 euros on Amazon, while it cost 1,099 euros when it was released.

The recent “Xiaomi 14” family of smartphones hit the market this year, but that doesn’t mean the Chinese brand’s former glories should now be completely ignored. It is indeed possible to find, among the manufacturer’s previous references, very good models which are now much less expensive than when they were released. This is particularly the case of the Xiaomi 12 Pro, which is part of Xiaomi’s 2022 vintage, and of which we highly appreciated the power of its chip, its superb screen and even its fast charging. Currently, it can be found for less than 400 euros, while it cost more than 1,000 euros when it was launched.

The essential points of the Xiaomi 12 Pro

  • A beautiful 6.73-inch AMOLED WQHD+ screen refreshed at 120 Hz
  • A powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip
  • Very fast charging

Launched at 1,099 euros, the Xiaomi 12 Pro (8+256 GB) is currently available at 399 euros on Amazon. Note that it is offered by a third-party seller, but is indeed fulfilled by Amazon.

Where to buy

Xiaomi 12 Pro at the best price?

A screen that flatters the retina

For its Xiaomi 12 Pro, the brand has opted for a case with a rather sober matte coating, but above all very easy to handle thanks to its contained weight (205 g), despite its slightly thick thickness (8.16 mm). At the front, we are entitled to Corning Gorilla Glass Victus to protect the screen, which we particularly liked. It must be said that its 6.73-inch WQHD+ (3200×1440 pixels) OLED panel, which also benefits from an adaptive refresh rate which can go up to 120 Hz for exemplary fluidity, is clearly not lacking in anything. An Always-On mode is even included, and its brightness of 874 cd/m² is simply excellent. Small downside all the same for its lack of precision, but we’re not going to quibble too much here.

On the back of the smartphone, we find a block of three sensors: one of 50 megapixels with wide-angle lens, one of 50 megapixels with ultra-wide-angle and one of 50 megapixels with X2 telephoto lens. In fact, the main sensor is a real pleasure to use and offers sharp, well-lit shots, while the ultra-wide-angle suffers a little from colorimetry. The night mode, if sometimes uneven, does its job well.

Great performance and excellent charging

In the bowels of the beast nestles a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, engraved in 4 nm, to which are added here 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of storage. When using the smartphone, the experience was very pleasant and fluid, and we did not have to report any lag or other annoying glitches. All daily tasks run smoothly and the gaming part was very convincing, and sometimes even breathtaking in terms of performance. Be careful, however, of the significant heating that can occur after a few minutes of play. On the interface side, MIUI 13 is present. It gives us the benefit of rather pleasant animations, but it disappoints us a little with its messy layout and the lack of customization.

Finally, in terms of autonomy, the Xiaomi has a 4,600 mAh battery, which is not enough to make the smartphone very durable, especially if you have to go away from an outlet for more than a day. Fortunately, 120W wired charging manages to compensate for this average autonomy. We can also add 50W wireless Turbo charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. Concretely, starting from an autonomy of 1%, we were able to reach 99% battery in just 30 minutes. A very good result, therefore.
