“We must do everything so that the extremes do not come to power, the extreme right like LFI”, believes Yaël Braun Pivet, embarrassed by the presence of the party led by Mathilde Panot in the left-wing coalition bringing together under the same banner of the New Popular Front, the PS, the Ecologists and the PCF.
In his constituency, Yaël Braun Pivet won 64.62% of the votes in the second round of the legislative elections in 2022, compared to 35.38% for his NUPES opponent, Sophie Thevenet. The New Popular Front has not yet announced its candidate for this constituency for the next election.
Manuel Valls will abstain
For his part, the former Minister of the Interior Manuel Valls, questioned this Friday morning on the same subject on LCI, did not hide his discomfort. “I will tell you things very clearly: I will choose neither for the RN nor France Insoumise”, he declared, castigating parties “who lie to the French, particularly on a social and economic level”.
“In the second round, if there is a candidate from the current majority (Renaissance) facing the National Rally, Republicans who refuse the agreement with the RN, socialists, ecologists, communists, at that time the French people will be able to make this choice”, he believes, categorically refusing to call for a vote for the New Popular Front because of the presence of La France Insoumise.
