The Trois-Pistoles Fire Department was called shortly before 4 p.m. for a fire in a commercial building located along Route 132 west in Notre-Dame-des-Neiges. The rapid work of the firefighters made it possible to limit the damage to the SM 2000 Equipment building.
“When we arrived, we just had a slight visible smoke at the back of the building coming out of the attic,” says the head of operations at the Trois-Pistoles SSI, Alex Leclerc.
Despite some fears due to the fire in the attic and the surface area of the commercial building, firefighters brought the fire under control in less than an hour. Mr. Leclerc is delighted with the excellent work of the teams which made it possible to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, but the origin is not known at this time.
Due to the size of the building, the L’Isle-Verte and Saint-Jean-de-Dieu barracks were called in prevention. A total of 20 firefighters were on scene. The intervention lasted two hours, at most, to allow the teams to carry out checks and collect their equipment.
