Éric Gagné had a great career in the MLB. He was a closer star for the Dodgers, won a Cy Young, won the World Series in Boston, etc.
His last game in major league baseball took place in 2008. And for years, he wanted to go back. This led him to pitch in independent baseball, in the Can-Am League.
So we saw him at certain times come back to pitch for Canada, in Canada or on Long Island in recent years.
But in 2024, even if he has put an end to his dream of pitching in the Majors for a long time, he still has the right to return to the mound for his own pleasure.
And that’s exactly what he will do on July 19.
As reported by journalist Kevin Dubé, the pitcher will perform in the Quebec Major Baseball League under the colors of the Montreal Jets, for one match.
At 48 years old, fans will be able to see Gagné pitch against the Acton Vale Castors at Raymond-Daviault stadium.
The journalist notes that it is on June 19, in six days, that the 1,100 tickets available for the match will go on sale. Those interested will have to act quickly, therefore.
