Emergency services were called this Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 3:31 a.m. for a fire in a one-story house located on rue de Trésauden, in the village of Marlais in Herbignac.
Man found among rubble
The occupant of the damaged house, a 40-year-old man, reported missing mid-morning on Thursday June 13, 2024, was found deceased. The dog brigade had to intervene to search for him and find him in the rubble.
A fire expert inspected the home early this afternoon. Its conclusions will be known later.
Around sixty homes
Six people, residing in the two pavilions adjoining the one completely engulfed in flames, were evacuated during the intervention of the fifty firefighters sent to the site. Two people were taken to Saint-Nazaire hospital for breathing difficulties following smoke inhalation. Around sixty homes suffered a power cut, which has since been restored.
We had fifty firefighters mobilized with around fifteen vehicles. People will be rehoused with the family or by the municipality
