A suspicious smell of gas was reported this Friday, November 8 at the Jean-Vigo high school, in Millau, prompting immediate emergency intervention.

As a precaution, the school management evacuated all the students and cut off the gas supply. “As a precautionary measure, we cut off the gas supply and had all the students evacuate peacefully,” Philippe Cros, the principal of the establishment, told our colleagues at Midi Libre.

The Millau rescue center, mobilized with thirteen firefighters and accompanied by five police officers as well as GRDF teams, quickly resolved doubts. After inspecting the kitchens of the school’s educational restaurant, where the odor was emanating, firefighters identified a defective gas cartridge.

Once the leak was neutralized, emergency services carried out a reconnaissance of the rest of the establishment to check the absence of any other risk. Traffic in the parking lot was regulated by the national police throughout the duration of the intervention.
