It was around 12:45 p.m. this Tuesday when a 13-year-old girl was seriously injured at home by the explosion of a supposed “firecracker”.
The events took place in an apartment rented by the land office of the City of Brussels, located on the first floor of a building on rue Van Artevelde, in downtown Brussels.

The alleged “firecracker” in question was thrown by an alleged 15-year-old stalker who had been attacking the victim’s brother until now and had probably been doing so for some time already.
“Why me? »
“First there was a huge boom, then, a few seconds later, screams, those of the victim who was alone at home at the time. She went out into the hallway to get help. It was a real horror film. Her right hand was completely shredded, she had lost three to four fingers, she was also injured in the face, and she was losing a lot of blood. She shouted: “Why me? Why me? “, says a witness to the events who is still in shock, speaking on condition of anonymity.
“The victim had returned around midday to eat at home when two large “firecrackers” broke the kitchen window (see illustration) where she was at the time. She picked up one which exploded in her hand; It seems that the other firecracker, which was smaller, would not have worked. In the confusion, she suggested to the concierge who had come to help her that there was still a risk of explosion and the entire building was therefore evacuated,” our witness continues.
“It was thanks to the testimony of a taxi driver that we finally understood what had just happened. He had seen two kids, one of whom had thrown something at the victim’s house; and, in fact, they were apparently “firecrackers” that were strong enough to be able to break a window before they even exploded! The link was then quickly made with the victim’s brother’s stalker; you should know that the victim’s brother had changed schools this year to no longer be confronted with his harasser, but it seems that this was not enough to calm down the man who has now become his sister’s tormentor “, he laments.
It was probably already the second time in the space of three days that the alleged harasser came to throw “firecrackers” on the spot; the first time, they had landed and exploded on the balcony without causing any casualties.
At the time of writing these lines, this Thursday, the victim, who had to undergo emergency surgery, and his family had still not returned home and the Brussels public prosecutor’s office had yet to answer our questions.
