Jordan Bardella confirmed Tuesday that the National Rally will not form an alliance with Reconquest for the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7.

Jordan Bardella confirms that the National Rally (RN) will not form an alliance with Reconquest for the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7. “I discussed with Marion Maréchal, as I discussed with President Ciotti. The discussions with Marion Maréchal were unsuccessful,” declared the president of the RN on France 2 this Tuesday, June 11.

“To build an alliance and a majority, you need trust, but I believe that Eric Zemmour’s positions throughout the European campaign, that the invectives that he has multiplied and that the positions sometimes very excessive measures that it can take have made the conditions of an agreement obsolete,” he added.

Marion Maréchal deplored on Tuesday “a change of position” of the RN which “refuses the very principle of an agreement” in the legislative elections with Reconquest. “Despite my attempts at negotiation, the regrettable argument that was put forward to me (is) that they do not want any direct or indirect association with Éric Zemmour,” explained Marion Maréchal, who led the Zemmourist list in the European elections, on Tuesday afternoon. .

Zemmour rejects responsibility for this failure

The day before, she had met Jordan Bardella and Marine Le Pen at the RN headquarters. At the end of this interview, the president of the party with the flame stressed that his yesterday’s competitor had “demonstrated throughout the campaign a constructive approach and attitude towards the National Rally”, while slipping that this had “not been the case for Éric Zemmour”.

The latter rejects responsibility for the failure of negotiations with a view to the legislative elections: “it cannot be because of me, I am not asking for anything”, “neither constituency, nor even obviously ministerial position”, he said on CNews this Tuesday.

“We can find all the pretexts we want, democracy and politics, it’s confrontation,” he said, adding that “obviously, sometimes, it’s violent, because we does not agree”.

On the other hand, the National Rally has entered into an agreement with Les Républicains for the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7. “Several dozen” of Republican deputies, “outgoing or invested”, will be “supported by the National Rally”, declared Jordan Bardella. This alliance was announced earlier by the president of the Republicans, Éric Ciotti, causing strong emotion within the party, several officials of which called for his resignation.
