Memorial Day highlighted in Appalaches and Granit

Remembrance Day will be celebrated this weekend in the region.

The Member of Parliament for Mégantic-L’Érable and Deputy House Leader of the Official Opposition, Luc Berthold, will take part in the ceremonies organized which will allow us to take a break to recall courage and honor the memory of Canadians who fell in battle to defend freedom. Soldiers who were involved in the First World War, the Second, the Korean War and that in Afghanistan in particular.

The MRC du Granit ceremony will take place this Saturday, November 9 at 1:30 p.m. It is organized by Branch 136 of the Royal Canadian Legion and will begin with a parade, which will depart from Millette Street to the cenotaph in Veterans Park. A ceremony in memory of the fallen soldiers will then take place in the presence of various dignitaries.

In the MRC des Appalaches, the ceremony will take place this Sunday, November 10 at 1:30 p.m. in front of the cenotaph on Notre-Dame Street West in Thetford Mines. Cadets from the 775 Kiwanis Squadron, veterans, military personnel as well as representatives from the Régiment de la Chaudière will be present.
