Thierry Mouyouma: “We must win this match”

FACING the media, during a pre-match press conference, Panthers coach Thierry Mouyouma and Jim Allevinah were confident before the match against Gambia, counting for the 4th day of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

“The defeat in Korogho against Ivory Coast did not leave any mark. We are disappointed not to have won, but we still have room to catch up. Our goal is to maintain pressure on Côte d’Ivoire. The team has not forgotten the episodes in Banjul, and they are determined to put on a great match,” explained the Gabon coach.

Although he says he gave a motivating speech to his players, Thierry Mouyouma is nevertheless counting on the support of the twelfth man. “We hope that arrangements have been made for the twelfth man to be present during this meeting, this will be additional support.”

For Jim Allevinah, who is coming off a performance below his usual performance in Korogho in Ivory Coast, the objective remains victory. “Even if the score is 1-0, I’m a taker. Our goal is to win this match to stay in the race, we are very motivated and we want to show it on the pitch tomorrow.”
