The alleged murderer of the young Filipina, Taha Oualidat, was indicted in Paris this Wednesday on charges of “murder preceded, accompanied or followed by another repeat crime”, “repeated rape”, “repeated theft” and “repeated fraud”, indicates the Paris prosecutor’s office. In a press release this Wednesday evening, the Paris public prosecutor, Laure Beccuau, indicates that the suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention.
The 22-year-old suspect, a Moroccan national who had just been released from prison and who was subject to an obligation to leave the territory (OQTF), was handed over to the French authorities this Wednesday. The alleged murderer faces life imprisonment.
Arrested at the Geneva station four days after the murder of Philippine, a 19-year-old student at Paris-Dauphine University, Taha Oualidat initially refused his extradition to France during a first hearing on October 16, before to finally accept two weeks later.
On September 21, the Paris prosecutor's office opened a judicial investigation for “rape and homicide” after the discovery of Philippine's body, found buried in the Bois de Boulogne. Taha Oualidat was arrested on September 24 at the main train station in Geneva. He had been located a few hours earlier by the police, in Haute-Savoie.
