Tunisia: Resumption of traffic after yesterday evening's rains

After hours of disruption, the General Directorate of the National Guard announced this morning the resumption of traffic on all the roads which had been cut due to severe weather.

Roads had been blocked following rising waters in several regions of the country, caused by heavy rainfall which fell on Tunisia yesterday evening.

The governorates of Béja, Siliana, Zaghouan, Sousse and Monastir were particularly affected by rising water in the wadis and streets, causing major difficulties for motorists.

The Nabeul region, particularly the Hammamet delegation, also recorded intense downpours, creating dangerous traffic conditions and localized overflows.

Authorities remind citizens to remain cautious, as residual mud and accumulations of water may still hamper traffic in certain areas.

At the same time, the National Guard and civil protection teams remain mobilized to guarantee the safety of users and intervene quickly in the event of new incidents.
