Microsoft announces three new Xboxes, quite disappointing

In the world of consoles, Microsoft is on the third step of the podium with this generation, and the company has just announced three new Xboxes which should not change the situation. We are not facing a portable console (despite the rumors) or an Xbox Pro, Series Z or Series Y, but rather facing three minor updates.

The first will only please white fetishists: it is a variant Robot White (white, therefore) of the Xbox Series S, equipped with a 1 TB SSD. It is a mid-range console, more suited to old 1080p screens than to modern 4K televisions, and it already exists in black with this ability. It only has one advantage: the price of €350.

The second is not a faster Xbox Series € in practice). Microsoft is very clear: the console is not faster and offers the same functions as the classic model. For the occasion, the console wears a livery Galaxy Blackor black with green glitter.

Finally, the last one is a version digital purely digital from the Xbox Series X, without optical drive. This version is white and officially loses €100, which places it at €450… like the PlayStation 5 without optical drive.

In addition to the fact that Microsoft has not modified its consoles from a hardware point of view (while rumors are rife about a PlayStation 5 Pro), this new range shows Microsoft’s problems and the firm’s reluctance when it comes to accessories. There is no external optical drive like Sony, nor the possibility of installing a standard SSD in the console. If you want a console with 2 TB of storage, you must either opt for the new version, or buy one of the expensive memory cards offered by Western Digital or Seagate (count 140 € for 1 TB). Whereas at Sony, you can install an M.2 NVMe SSD, with a capacity of up to 8 TB.
