In Leipzig since last summer after a transfer worth forty million from RC Lens, Loïs Openda was quick to justify this investment. Brilliant with Leipzig in the league and on the European scene, the 23-year-old striker is preparing to play the Euro with Belgium and experience another happy event.

The ascent never ends. Since his promising season at Vitesse (Netherlands) then his explosion at RC Lens, in Ligue 1, Lois Openda seems to be running on rails. In Leipzig, after a more than successful but inconsistent season in Lens and with increased competition (Benjamin Sesko, Yussuf Poulsen), questions about his short-term integration could be legitimate. The 24-year-old center forward answered in the affirmative in the space of just a few weeks.
Scorer eight times in his first nine Bundesliga matches, the former Lensois maintained this same pace throughout the season to post an impressive record: 24 goals and 7 assists in the league, 4 goals in 8 League matches champions, including three in two matches against Manchester City. Enough to offer him the status of world-class number 9 despite his miss against Real Madrid and, rather obviously, a ticket for Euro 2024 with Belgium. The Red Devil will compete with the experienced Romelu Lukaku for a starting place at the forefront of Domenico Tedesco’s 4-2-3-1. A few days before the high mass of European football, “Bouzou” announced another status on his social networks: that of future dad. Definitely the season of maturity, in every way.
