The Côte-d'Or Department invested its new young departmental advisors for a two-year term this Wednesday morning!
Citizen engagement is not just a matter for adults! After being elected by their little comrades, more than fifty Côte-d'Oriens college students were present at the Hôtel du Département, with scarves around their necks, ready to be invested in their new positions by François Sauvadet and Catherine Louis , respectively president and vice-president of the Department responsible for youth.
Consult and raise awareness among young people
More than ever faced with numerous societal issues, including the environmental crisis, technological changes and the digital revolution, young departmental advisors are useful and essential intermediaries to enable public authorities to take the pulse of the new generation.
« I am very proud of our youth. I want to trust you because you are our future. In three or four years you will be adults, you will get your license, you will be able to vote and choose the destiny of your countrydeclared François Sauvadet. But I would also like to know what you think! ». « You are ambassadors of the Côte-d’Or within your colleges”added Catherine Louis.
This advice is also an opportunity to make young people aware of the dangers of the times in which they live. School bullying will be one of the priority subjects of this mandate. “ You will work on harassment. The cell phone is a great tool for communicating and getting information, but you have to master it and be vigilant. Anything put in can be made public at any time”warned the president of the Department.
Already proposals
Among the college students present, several have already submitted proposals. Elliot wants to create a culture voucher for teenagers, Ela offers school trips, and Max will be an intermediary to pass on ideas to his classmates. The former mayor of Vitteaux, however, wishes to empower young departmental councilors in the management of public affairs: “ We will work on cash. Every time you have an idea to spend more, you will have to figure out how to spend less elsewhere. »
