A “pro-Palestine” demonstration will be organized on Wednesday November 13 in Paris, the same day that the “Israel is Forever” gala is being held in the capital, Bleu Paris reported on Tuesday. This gathering was authorized by the police headquarters, according to information from France Inter.

The prefect of police, Laurent Nuñez, also gave his agreement to the holding of this gala. Seized by the Coordination of Appeals for a Just Peace in the Middle East EuroPalestine to obtain an annulment of the decision of the police prefect, the administrative court ruled on Saturday that there was no reason to prohibit it.

Faced with the maintenance of the gala by the authorities, this “pro-Palestine” demonstration is organized in parallel, at the call of several associations, unions and political parties. Attac France, Urgence Palestine, Mouvement de la Paix, CGT, FSU, Solidaires, La France insoumise and Les Ecologistes-EELV will participate in this march which will leave at 6 p.m. from Saint-Lazare station to reach Place de la République. “No gala for those who advocate genocide”denounce in a leaflet from the organizers.

The following Thursday, the football match between France and Israel will then be held, where French President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Michel Barnier as well as former President François Hollande are expected. The meeting considered at “high risk” mobilizes a large security force, nearly 4,000 police officers and gendarmes, and 1,600 security agents.
