Alice Finot won the title of European champion this Sunday June 9 in the 3,000 m steeplechase, in Rome (Italy). The Habs knew how to manage their race perfectly. The 33-year-old Montbéliarde started the final at a time that suited her, as she is based in Galicia (Spain). The French record holder (9’06”15) was patient, before accelerating in the last lap and calmly going to collect gold (9’16”22). His second international medal in four selections.
Atypical journey
The athlete with an atypical background – an automobile engineer and national level eventing rider – had decided to devote herself solely to athletics in 2021. The same year, at age 30, she experienced her first selection and became vice-champion of Europe in theaters in Torun (Poland). 10th at the 2022 Worlds, she progressed to 5th place in Budapest in 2023.
