Saturday November 2, 2024, an amateur football match between the U14s of Saint-Sylvestre Nice- and Levens-Falicon has slipped sharply at the Lauvette stadium in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), reports Nice-Morning.

A big fight broke out and apparently started from a refereeing error. The police intervened, a police source confirms news Nice.

The official referee absent

The stakes seemed high for the two teams, Saint-Sylvestre Nice-Nord and Levens-Falicon, who faced each other this Saturday afternoon: to move to division 1. But at the Babkin-Hairabedian stadium at Lauvette, in Nice, the The match did not take place peacefully, quite the contrary.

It all starts with the referee, ultimately absent at the last minute. A replacement must then be found quickly. It is agreed to flip a coin: it is a supervisor from the New Year's Eve team who puts on his referee's cap. The meeting can begin.

“He suffered insults throughout the match”

The field was then invaded by parents who, in a totally confused moment, all found themselves in a general stampede, a police source tells us. The fight involved around fifty people environ.

Two mothers slightly injured

The national police intervened around 5:50 p.m. The 21-year-old referee fled in his vehicle. Two people were slightly injured, but their state of health did not require treatment by firefighters.

They would be two mothers of children and would have suffered ” punches by an individual on New Year’s Eve.” Complaints have reportedly been filed and an investigation is underway to shed light on this incident.

This is not the first time that an amateur match has degenerated in this stadium, close to La Trinité. Serious events took place last January during a match, where hooded and armed individuals violently attacked players on the field.
