An incident involving unusual fumes was detected this Friday morning from the laboratory located in the critical care building at CHU Nord. The incident was brought under control and activity could resume.
Immediate Actions Taken
As soon as the odors were detected, a series of measures were implemented to guarantee the safety of those present:
-Immediate internal reporting to security teams and relevant managers.
-Rapid intervention from the central fire safety station (fire PC) and the quality representative for an initial assessment of the situation.
-Preventive evacuation of personnel working in the laboratory in order to guarantee their safety, in the presence of the SAMU with temporary cessation of activity.
-Call to the SDIS, which carried out in-depth investigations, both in the laboratory and in the upper levels of the critical care building.
-The occupational health service was informed and 6 agents were quickly treated. Each inconvenienced person was able to consult a doctor.
A hospital worker, who felt unwell, was treated in the emergency room and is currently receiving appropriate medical follow-up.
Mobilisation et investigations
The SDIS technological unit was mobilized to carry out in-depth investigations of the entire building.
A crisis unit was immediately set up to coordinate actions.

The analyzes carried out by the SDIS confirmed
Absence of toxicity of the fumes detected.
No impact on upper levels of the critical care building, for staff and patients.
Resumption of activity
At midday, after removal of all doubt by the SDIS, the re-entry of the premises was authorized, and the resumption of laboratory activities is underway.
