War in Ukraine: “They fired in the wrong direction”… by mistake, North Korean soldiers shot Russians

A Russian soldier captured by Ukrainian forces claims he was forced to flee his unit after coming under accidental fire from North Koreans.

Russian soldier says North Korean troops deployed to fight Ukraine endangered his own unit by pulling in the wrong direction.

These statements come from a video broadcast by Ukrainian military intelligence on social networks and come as kyiv announced that the first North Korean soldiers stationed in the Russian region of Kursk had come under fire. About 8,000 North Korean troops are believed to be deployed in the Russian region where Ukraine launched a surprise incursion on Aug. 6 and made rapid gains there, although Moscow's forces have since retaken a significant portion of territory.

“The Koreans started shooting at us”

Images published by the pro-Ukrainian X account Victoria allegedly show a captured Russian soldier speaking to the camera about his experience with the new recruits sent by Pyongyang. The soldier said members of his unit and 10 North Korean soldiers were taken into the forest to dig trenches and given warm clothing and food.

“During the assault, the Koreans started shooting at us”then declared the Russian soldier whose name was not revealed. We tried to explain to them where to aim, but I think they shot two of ours.”. “I decided it was better to surrender to this situation than to be killed by our own bullet“, he adds. Hopefully this 'friendly fire' wasn't so friendly after all.”commented on the post
