Speaking at the close of the first day of the Paris Peace Forum, which brought together political leaders, business leaders and civil society actors from the four corners of the world, the head of French diplomacy underlined that with Morocco “we are now looking towards a future that we have decided to build and defend together”.
“We have decided together to launch a renewed partnership for the years to come and we will make it even stronger,” he said.
By presenting the partnership with Morocco as a “model partnership”, the minister also pleaded for a new approach to cooperation with Africa.
“We must do more and better with Africa because we have a long history with this great continent. Because we have a lot of challenges in common,” he added.
Focused on the theme of “the search for a world order that works”, the 7th edition of the Paris Peace Forum hosted several sessions dedicated in particular to geopolitics, peace and conflicts: the war in Ukraine and the conflicts in the Middle East and Sudan in particular.
Crucial global issues are discussed in thematic workshops, such as nutrition, agriculture, cyberspace and the management of essential minerals, among others.
Founded in 2018 at the instigation of French President Emmanuel Macron on the occasion of the commemoration of the end of the First World War, the Paris Peace Forum’s mission is to address global challenges such as climate change, poverty and inequality, security and the rise of new technologies, by building new forms of collective action that complement the work of multilateral institutions and contribute to the establishment of lasting peace.
