According to the newspaperIs Lightninga resident on the second floor jumped out of the window to escape the fire.
The disaster required the intervention of 28 firefighters from Troyes with two fire trucks, two large ladders and three ambulances.
They had to evacuate around fifteen people poisoned by smoke, and treated eight victims.
The coordination of the emergency services and their speed of intervention made it possible to contain the fire to the ground floor apartment, thus sparing the rest of the building.
The stairwell was also protected from the flames.
Several witnesses to the fire climbed the facade of the building to rescue the trapped tenants. A human chain formed to evacuate a baby and a woman from the second floor.
The City and Troyes Habitat are organizing the rehousing of affected tenants.
For the moment, the causes of the disaster remain unknown.
