A fire in the former Authion foundries near Angers

This Saturday, June 8, 2024, shortly after 7:30 p.m., a fire broke out in the disused buildings of the former Authion foundries, in Ponts-de-Cé, near Angers (Maine-et-Loire). There are no injuries.

A fire broke out, shortly before 8 p.m., in the buildings of the former Authion foundries, one kilometer as the crow flies from the town center of Ponts-de-Cé, this Saturday June 8, 2024.

According to initial information, the fire started from the waste stored there. Thick black smoke was released and was visible for several kilometers. Sixteen firefighters responded to the fire which caused no injuries.

Abandoned place

The foundry carried out its activity there from 1947 to 2008. But the place has been abandoned since the liquidation and cessation of activity. It was part of the Helveticast group at the time of liquidation.
